How to Make Shaggy Rugs

Shaggy rugs have a warm comfort about them. Whether they are room-size or door mats; wall decor or bedside rug, the sight and touch of shaggy rug is a pleasant one.

Anyone can make a shaggy mat; as long as you have the equipment and materials, you need minimal skills to make a shaggy mat.

Requirements

1. Gather your materials: Yarn/ thread and tapestry
2. Gather your equipment: scissors, latch/ regular crotchet, and a marker pen

The Process

Watch this video to see how each of this processes is done.

1. Draw your desired design on your tapestry or mat mesh (only if you want a design and not a plain shaggy mat
2. Cut your different coloured yarns (if you need multiple colours) in to 1 inch pieces. (see this videos)
3. Insert your crotchet into one of your tapestry’s holes and pull one piece of thread through
4. Make a knot or loop with the yarn
5. Repeat the process until you are done.
